Success

I’m going to be vulnerable and let you into my head for a brief second: Feeling successful, EVERY DAY, is vital to my life. If I hit 3:00pm and I feel like I have not been successful, the rest of the day I spend trying to talk myself out of the hole I begin digging. Why? Because I hold myself to a very high standard. I hold everyone around me to a very high standard {just ask my poor husband…} and if I am not meeting that standard, that feeling of success, then I entertain thoughts of doubt and failure.

But what IS success? What does that look like? What does that feel like? I’m learning this is different for everyone. But most importantly, I’m learning what it is to me.

Jim Rohn-2

Success is making your life what you want it to be! This is amazing!

What do you want YOUR life to be?

I’ve noticed that when I spend my time in a way that brings me closer to the life I desire to have and live on a daily basis, this is when I feel the most successful. Success is not about how much money is in the bank, success is not about the title on your business card (or lack of a business card), success is not the type of purse you carry or the shoes you wear. Success is not a material thing. Success is the feeling that comes from making your life what you want it to be. And only YOU know what that is!

In case you were wondering, here’s what my version of success looks like:

  • I have children who feel loved and say “please” and “thank you” without being prompted
  • I have a husband who feels loved by me through our daily interactions
  • I have a clean home full of beautiful, meaningful things.
  • I wake up when I want to and can take a nap if I feel like it
  • I can afford regular pedicures and massages
  • I spend at least an hour a day alone…reading
  • I can buy meaningful gifts for people I love
  • I have a closet full of clothes that I love and feel pretty in
  • I can afford to fix a car, a water heater, a garage door etc. when it breaks and not worry about where the money coming from
  • I can take my family on trips to places we want to see and experience without having to stress about the bank account when we return

So, how do you figure out your definition {or bulleted list…} of success? Ask yourself questions, sit and wait for the answers to come to you {it may not come easily…or quickly….but be patient! Your success is worth working for}. Here are 3 questions I suggest to get those thoughts flowing:

  1. What do you day dream about?
  2. What attributes do you want to see in yourself?
  3. What gives you the greatest satisfaction?

Now that you’ve taken the time to think {you have…right?} you need to actually look at what your wrote down and turn those thoughts into your definition/list of what success means to you.

And you need to put that definition in a place you’ll read it, weekly at least.

If you’d like to share your definition of success, I’d love to read it!!!

Carpe that diem!
